Hannah and Emily got married last summer at Maxstoke Village Hall, which is a tiny village hall in Warwickshire. It was such a happy day and even the rain didn’t dampen anyones spirits!
Originally Hannah & Emily planned to have an outdoor ceremony overlooking cornfields, followed by lawn games. However the weather had other plans and it pretty much bucketed it down all day. Despite this the ceremony was relocated indoors, which was slightly cramped but made the service even more intimate, there genuinely was a huge buzz and the room was full of love. The service itself was humanist, conducted by Hannah’s father and possibly one of my all times favourite. The couple were so cute together and during the ceremony they had several beautiful readings from friends and family. It was a real tear-jerker and so unique.
A boozy afternoon tea was served after the service, and an epic Ceilidh in the evening. It was utterly brilliant! I loved watching their guests try and pick up the steps was so funny and everyone had a right giggle. I cannot recommend the Burdock Band enough. If you haven’t seen a ceilidh before it’s basically a Celtic Barn Dance, where the band call dance instructions for the party to follow. As you can see from the picture’s and video, while slightly tipsy following the instructions isn’t always that easy and will result in lots of laughter and panicked looks.
The hall itself was decorated with lots of homemade touches, some of my favourites included an ‘No need for a groom’ sign and a ‘caption this wall’ where their guests had to write witty captions for photos of the pair as kids. The pair wore matching clogs, in gold and silver and we found out about Hannah’s emotional past with Katy Perry from her nephew during his best man’s speech. For dinner they had one of my favourite street food vendors Baked In Brick, which was so yummy. I had previously had some of their delicious food at Digbeth Dining Club, a street food event held at the weekends in Birmingham, so I was stoked that they were going to be feeding Emily & Hannah’s guests.
However the best part of the day was when the rain eventually stopped raining and we managed to sneak outside for confetti, group photos and some smoke bomb fun.
Hannah and Emily’s wedding was everything I love about weddings and just the happiest occasion. Here’s their awesome wedding!
Huge thanks to Faye Green for second shooting!
