When it comes to unforgettable weddings, Charlotte and Emily’s Harry Potter festival-inspired celebration at Thorpe Garden was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the heart of Staffordshire, this gorgeous venue has a handcrafted wooden yurt and a stunning walled garden, complete with a dreamy wisteria arch. Honestly, it’s one of my absolute favorite spots to shoot weddings, and it’s perfect for couples who want something a bit different.
Charlotte and Emily’s day was packed with fun, laughter, and loads of personal touches. From emotional vows to rainbow smoke flares, this wedding had so many cool moments. If you’re a creative couple, a festival lover, or just after some fun, creative wedding inspo, you’re going to love this!
1. A Festival of Fun
Charlotte and Emily didn’t just throw a wedding—they threw a full-on festival! Emily’s dad totally smashed it with a handmade mini golf course, which was such a hit with guests of all ages. There was a kids’ disco, face painting, temporary tattoos, and even cozy fire pits for chilling out later in the evening.
And let’s not forget the epic party band in the evening—they had everyone on the dance floor all night long. It was such a fun vibe and just what you’d want for a wedding celebration.
2. Acoustic Emo Tunes by Lily Kerby
Walking down the aisle to the amazing Lily Kerby was such a vibe. She’s known for her acoustic takes on emo and pop-punk classics, and it was honestly the perfect soundtrack for both their ceremony and drinks reception. I’ve worked with Lily a few times and shes just so lovely, if you’re into that style of music, you’ve got to check her out—she nailed it!
3. DIY Magic & Crafty Touches
These two are super creative, and it really showed in all the little details. They got their craft-loving friends together to create some amazing dinosaur eggs and potion bottles for their wedding breakfast tables. How cool is that?
And let’s talk about their custom-painted leather jackets—they each had a big cat design that complemented the other. Such a unique way to show off their style and connection.
Their ceremony was so personal and heartfelt. Instead of a traditional officiant, their family and bridal party led the way, making it feel extra special. They also included a sand-pouring ceremony to symbolize blending their family, with Charlotte’s daughter playing a big part.
Oh, and their vows? Absolute tearjerkers. They wrote their own, and you could just feel the love and emotion in every word. Such a beautiful moment.
Rainbow Smoke Flares
We had an absolute blast with the rainbow smoke flares during the bridal party photos. The colors looked incredible against the green backdrop of Thorpe Garden and made for some of the coolest, most vibrant shots. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the day!
Candid Moments
Charlotte and Emily were all about keeping it real and capturing those natural, unposed moments. From giggles during the speeches to sneaky kisses on the dance floor, their day was full of those authentic, heartwarming moments I love to photograph.
Their menu was completely vegetarian, and let me tell you, it was SO good. Everyone was raving about how tasty it was. It’s proof that plant-based meals can totally wow your guests.
Thorpe Garden is such a gem. The handcrafted yurt is cozy and stylish, the walled garden is perfect for photos, and that wisteria arch? Total showstopper. It’s such a versatile space, whether you’re going for a chilled festival vibe or something a bit more elegant.
For couples like Charlotte and Emily—relaxed, fun, festival-loving, and totally up for making their wedding unique—this venue is just perfect. I’d love to shoot more weddings here because it’s such an inspiring space.
