Laura and Aaron got married last October at possibly one of the most memorable weddings I have ever shot! It was at Cider Barn in Herefordshire and it was stunning, the styling was beautiful and it was so much fun. The couple organised so many activities including archery, owls and a pumpkin carving competition. It rained heavily but even that didn’t dampen the day, even when Laura’s VW Campervan broke down in a flood on route to the ceremony, with her in it!
Honestly I’ve never seen rain like it, the whole area around the venue was completely flooded. But after being rescued by two lovely people passing in a 4×4, Laura eventually got to the ceremony and the day carried on as planned. Yes it was not the day Laura & Aaron had hoped for, but they pulled on some wellies and rocked the hell out of their wedding.
Laura & Aaron had a humanist service that was beautifully conducted by one of their best friends Izzy in an open marquee at the side of the grade 2 listed Barn. They had two lovely readings, “Westlin’ Winds” by Robert Burns and “Springtime” by Eva Cassidy. This was then followed by a hand fastening, where they were assisted by their mothers. It was such a personal service and a real tear-jerker.
The theme was magical and folky and they decorated the venue with stars and fairy lights, they also stuck to a strict rich autumnal colour palette, which I loved. Birds of prey featured heavily at the reception, with actual real birds that the guests could look at and the tables were all named after their favourite birds. The couple met at uni and fell in love over their love of music, they now have two cats together Luna and Dexter, who’s photos were of course dotted all around the beautiful venue. Cider barn has a really laid-back vibe, and is a lovely place to get married in the Herefordshire countryside. The venue offers seriously good food – and there is an orchard that’s perfect for photos. Cider Barn is so cozy and relaxed.
Now it’s worth mentioning that Laura is an amazing wedding photographer herself, (seriously check out her work it’s beautiful) so when it came to planning her own wedding she knew exactly what she wanted and boy could you tell! She had thought about everything and the day was a dream to photograph. The day was so meticulously planned out it, was much fun! The couple had hot chocolate and marshmallows in the afternoon and a pumpkin carving competition in the evening. They made an archery field at the back of the barn and during the drinks reception everybody headed outside to watch as the couple fired a first arrow. However my favourite part of the day was when Laura & Aaron performed a song together after the speeches. When there was a gap in the rain we managed to get everybody out for some quick confetti shots, then they finished off the evening with sparklers and an awesome folk band.
Laura looked so pretty and was an absolute boho BABE! She wore lace up leather boots with handmade felt oak leaves, ribbons and feathers in her hair. Aaron wore a matching felt leaf button hole and they looked so stylish and so loved up all day.
It truly was the a beautiful day that was so much fun! If you are planning a Autumn wedding get in touch.
Huge thank you to my second shooter Kate for being an absolute star and battling through the rain to get there.
