Michelle and Rikki got married last summer at the beautiful Selly Manor, which is a Tudor Manor house in Birmingham, then moved on to the unique Kitchen Garden cafe in Kings Heath. It was such a fun wedding and glitter, comedians and confetti canons YES PLEASE!
I can’t tell you how excited I was to get this enquiry, not only were they having their wedding at two unique venues BUT I also dated a guy who had lived with the couple years ago and I had been on a few drunken nights out with Michelle so knew she was a right giggle. I also knew that both of them had great style so I had Hugh expectations for their wedding and they didn’t disappoint even though they planned the whole thing in only 5 months!
Michelle got ready in their stunning home with her mum and her maid of honour Charlotte, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. This excitement could possibly have been mainly from me, as Michelle showed me all the things that she had meticulously made for the wedding, including her brooch bouquet, flower shoe details and that stunning teal wedding dress. SERIOUSLY SHE MADE THAT DRESS! Is there anything that lady cannot do?
The ceremony at Selly Manor was intimate, with a short and sweet service. They then had their drinks reception in the grounds, which was a beautiful back drop with a cottage garden feel. All the guests were so nice and I had such a giggle during their group shot then we blocked off a road to do that epic confetti canon shot. This was possibly the best confetti that I’ve ever shot, there was just so much of it, all the guests got stuck in and the colour of the confetti canons were on point. We all then jumped onto the Routemaster bus they had hired and headed straight to the reception venue.
They chose the Kitchen Garden Cafe which has a cosy and relaxed feel and they were able to really put their stamp on the venue. It was a glitter, sequin and peacock themed wedding, which meant it was so colourful. I love shooting DIY weddings because couples always impress me with the level of effort that goes into the personalisation and making. They decorated the venue with rainbow streamers and sequin table runner, Michelle and her mum made a really cool cake and we had a right giggle looking at all photos they had hung up of the pair of them other the years.
They not only had a glitter artistand killer band, but they also had a comedian, which is something I’ve never seen before but went down a treat. I was finding it had to photograph as I was laughing so much. However the most fun part of the day for me was the speeches!! You could tell how much their family and friends love them and also a few dirty secrets came out, which had everyone in hysterics. Michelles reaction face was EVERYTHING and Rikki couldn’t stop smiling throughout.
Michelle and Rikki’s wedding was so much fun and so laid back. Here’s their awesome colourful wedding.
Thanks so much to the ultimate babe Hannah from Rocksalt Photography for shooting with me.
